Maps and Directions to “Château du Plessis – Thilouze”
Château du Plessis is located in the heart of the Loire Valley near
the geographical center of France. Approximately 275 KM south of Paris it
is conveniently reached by plane from Norh America and Europe's capital cities.
From Paris, an easy 2 ½ hour drive or 1 ¾ hour ride on the
TGV will bring the visitor to Thilouze. There is a direct
flight from London Stansted Airport to Tours for visitors from the UK.
Most
visitors from North America will arrive at Charles de Gaulle/Roissy
airport. From there some will spend overnight or a few days in Paris
before driving or riding the TGV train to Le Plessis. Others will
drive directly or take the TGV from CDG airport. The following are
a few sample itineraries to Château du Plessis – Thilouze.
Driving directions from CDG Airport
Regardless what terminal you arrive in and pick up your Rent-a-Car, follow
directions to Terminal 2E and the A104 (yes you will drive endless loops
around the airport). Merge into the A1 direction Paris.
Here you have two choices:
1. If you chose to stay overnight in Paris or
are not afraid of struggling with the Paris ring road rush hour traffic,
follow signs to PARIS CENTRE and PERIPHERIQUE OUEST. From the Périphérique
either drive to your hotel, or go half way around Paris and exit at the
PORTE D’ORLEANS and follow signs to THE A6-ORLEANS.BORDEAUX.
2. If you chose to bypass Paris (kind of, meandering
along the express way through industrial suburbs), follow the directions “Around
Paris”

1. After leaving CDG and getting on to the A1
in the direction of Paris, remain on the right hand lane.
2. Two to three KMS after joining the A1 exit
to the right on the A3 and follow the signs to BORDEAUX/NANTES/BOBIGNY.
3. Continue along the A3 until it merges with
the N86 (approximately 10KM) toward FONTENAY-SOUS-BOIS/CRETEIL. After less
than 2KM you will enter a long tunnel. From. From here on you are safe to
lock your sights on signs toward BORDEAUX/NANTES.
4. Approximately 8KM later, passing ORLY Airport
you will merge with the A6 toward LYON/BORDEAUX/NANTES/ORLEANS.
5. Less than 3KM later take the right lane toward
the A10 and watch for signs toward BORDEAUX/ORLEANS.
6. Stay on the A10, following signs toward ORLEANS/TOURS
Driving directions to the “Château du Plessis” from
Paris and Tours
1. On Autoroute A10: Drive across the Loire River
in Tours »Poitiers/Bordeaux (south)
2. 7 KM south of Tours: Exit
No.24:»Saumur
3. After toll plaza: around the “round about” first right - about 180°»D37 »Saumur (blue sign A85 Angers)
4. About 3 KM right interchange 350° sharp
right»D751 »Saumur (blue sign A85 Angers)
5. About 7.5 KM: Exit No 9 »Azay-le-Rideau
6. Around the “round about” (with
giant wicker basket) third right about 270° »D121 »Artannes
7. About 3 KM: Turn right
on D8 »Thilouze
8. In Pont-de-Ruan, around the miniature “round
about” 270°: D8 »Thilouze
9. Exactly 2.9 KM: right
after the second 70 KMH panel: slow down to 30 KMH
10. Turn right into allée» “Le
Plessis”
Note: if you see the cemetery on your right and fire station on your left,
make U-turn and come back 500 meters and make left turn into “Le Plessis” allée.
TGV Train from CDG Airport
Inside Terminal 2 (between 2C and 2F) there is a TGV train station. Go
down the escalator or the elevator if you have a luggage cart and look for
the train to Tours/Saint-Pierre-des-Corps. The train will slowly circle
around Paris before racing at 260Kmph toward Tours where it will arrive
approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes later. Go to your Rent-a-Car reservation
desk and get detailed directions to the A10 freeway toward Poitiers (this
is a little tricky). Then follow the driving directions above.
Note 1: Be sure that you have confirmed your car reservation AND the opening
hours – for example the Rent-a-Car desks close during lunch hours
and on Sundays.
Note 2: Occasionally the train will switch at Saint-Pierre-des-Corps to
a slower train to TOURS-CENTRE. Here larger Rent-a-Car desks are available.
The Hertz desk however is located about 5 blocks from the station.
Ryan Air from London Stansted Airport
Ryan Air flies daily form London Stansted airport to Tours-Airport about
10KM North of Tours. From there your Rent-a-Car company will give you directions
to the A10 freeway and you can follow the directions above.
