Château du Plessis

Testimonials

The following testimonials were collected from comments graciously written in Le Plessis “Livre d’Or” (guestbook). Some were written by personal friends who stayed at Le Plessis. Most were written by guest renters. They are unedited. Occasionally we added a short editorial comment (Ed.) to provide context to the comment.

January 2005 – Steve & Martine (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook) “What an honor to be one of your first guests and bravo for your incredible Chef d’Oeuvre! Your exquisite taste and eye for every detail impressed me, as never before. You both deserve a medal. At the same time I envy you to have created such a perfect place, and have made your dream come true.
We will long remember, and for sure we will be back this time with friends and as clients. We wish you the best for the New Year and wish you most to have guests who will appreciate your décor as much as we did.
Thank you for your delicate hospitality. Love and good luck in all your future projects.”

April 2005 – Dorothy & Jeff (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“Thank you for sharing your beautiful Château with our family. We felt very welcome. The house is very well equipped. The directions in each room were very helpful. Our only regret? That our visit was only one week. We look forward to our next visit.”

July 2005 – Caroline & Jim (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“This trip was a plan for over a year and the week here has been as nearly perfect as we could ask! The house is wonderfully generous itself – beautiful, and open to all its occupants. The town is welcoming and friendly.
We were busy every day and each day gave us some thing to think about or some thing to learn. We began with the Tour de France which was a treat for the younger generation (ed – the “Tour de France" bicycle race rode through nearby Pont-de-Ruan in July 2005). We ended at Villandry, Chambord. A wonderful week in a truly special house.”

July 2005 – Jayshree & Mansukh (etc.) (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“Thank you for sharing your wonderful home and hospitality! We’d been planning for 1 year for this trip and it exceeded our wildest expectations. The house, the décor, the location and the Loire Valley made for an unforgettable trip. Our only regret: we were here only 1 week. Veronique, Jean-Jacques, and Karen were incredibly kind and helpful. It was great to have their help and know they were nearby.
Your house, the Château, was obviously lovingly decorated and your personal touches were evident. We so enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to return.
P.S. Your kitchen is so well appointed! Frederick (a chef & friend of Karen’s) cooked for us and it was wonderful. We highly recommend him”

June 2006 – Mark & Bob (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“What a glorious week we have had. Surrounded by close family, beautiful sights & sounds, the tranquil and yet majestic countryside and most of all, your magnificent home with every creature comfort imaginable. Few can say that their experience in Touraine was filled with style and grand élan – but I most certainty can. Thank you for an unbelievably wondrous week”
When we shared drinks at your home in San Rafael, I knew everything in France at Le Plessis would be wonderful! (Boy is that an understatement) We love enjoyed the beauty of the Château, the vistas from every room and the joy of the country quietness. You have thought of everything to make us comfortable. We especially enjoyed cooking in the new kitchen and the use of the glorious new room. What a treat!”

July 2006 – Kristen & Lew (by letter)
“What a magnificent time we had at your Château in Thilouze! The quiet and peacefulness of the environment was wonderful – only the happy sounds of birds broke the silence. We enjoyed all the comforts that you so generously provided. Lew and I stayed in the Balzac room and loved the décor and appreciated your attention to detail in decorating and providing comfort to your guests.
Liz and I loved being in the kitchen and took great pleasure in finding what we needed. EVERYTHING was there, (except for coffee, which of course WAS there but not found until the second day). We made a point of using every room: appetizers and wine in the living room, the July 4th dinner in the formal dining room, meal preparation in the kitchen, TV, reading, daily planning in the sun room, early mornings and late evenings on the patios, afternoons in the pool, daily walks around the premises and through the forest to town, and idling by the pond. Thank you for providing such a relaxing and elegant environment in which to enjoy ourselves.
The tourist suggestions you gave Liz were perfect and we did as many as we could. We thoroughly enjoyed your recommendations for places to eat and did, indeed, take the full 2 hours plus to enjoy a meal. We were in awe of the food and presentation – Liz will be serving ‘French style’ in the years to come.
We were very impressed by the journal that Gerald wrote (Ed. See the leather binder “Chronicles – A month in Touraine”) and found it hard to believe how much you two accomplished in such a short time, and from such a great distance. Kudos to Lynn for all the wonderful and tasteful fabrics chosen for the furnishings. It was a treat to take the time to notice all the special little touches added in each room.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to you for allowing us to share in a vacation in your home. France has so much to offer: the beauty of the countryside, the ambiance of restaurants and presentation of delicious food (& good wine!), the historical and cultural buildings, and most of all the friendliness and charm of the people. Even though we visited just a short time, we feel greatly enriched from the experience. Thank you for making it possible”

August 2006 – Elizabeth & Jeffrey (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“Thank you so much for the opportunity to share your lovely home. We had an enjoyable time. Some of our highlights include: the adventures of which buttons to press and which not! (by the way, your guidebooks are very useful); cooking with gas – and not burning the food nor my eye lashes!; a most lovely lunch at the Auberge in Saché; touring the various Châteaux and castles in the area; tasting the different wines and of course kicking by the pool during those “heat alert” days drinking frappes. Many pleasant memories.
Please thank once again Véronique and Jean-Jacques for their help and tolerating our disjointed French language. We hope to repeat the adventure sometime soon.”

August 2006 – Nicole & Jeffrey (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“Our families have vacationed together every summer for 12 years. We rent a house in a different country each year. This is our first time with HA and we all agree that Le Plessis is the most grand to date – with your attention to detail, a wonderfully equipped kitchen and all the comfort of home.
We greatly appreciate your special effort to accommodate our table tennis request. It was a big hit and used every day!! We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful Loire countryside – the food, the wine, the landscape & picturesque villages.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. The château was obviously lovingly restored – we’re surrounded by so many personal touches!"

September 2006 – Vicki & Denny (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“Wow. The house is “OTT” – Over The Top – in the absolute best sense of the words. My husband & I have been renting houses with HA in the last 10 years (mostly France, but also Italy & Spain, we’ve had huge châteaux, small ones, & all kinds of homes in between. But never had a house been this warm, inviting, & user friendly from the bathrobes & slippers down to the stocked spices, it’s been fabulous.
We rent bikes each year as we did here & found wonderful routes. This is the best – it does’t get better”

October 2006 – Katie (11 yr. old) (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“The château is amazing. The second I walked in I knew it was going to be a fun week between the beautiful furnishings and the building to the huge backyard where I played soccer everyday. THANK YOU! P.S. I really like feeding the fish too.”

October 2006 – Linda & Doug (as written in the “Livre d’Or” (guestbook)
“The longer we stayed at Le Plessis – the more we appreciated the great details in the remodeling of your beautiful home. The sun room and the kitchen were our favorites. The sun room was so friendly and welcoming each morning. The sunlight streaming through the windows and the yellows and blued of the interior were so happy and friendly. We shared the cooking so we all appreciated the kitchen with its warmth and beautiful cabinet work.
We voted and you received a 5+ star rating for interior decorating and comfort. The living room & dining room are beautiful. We would like to bring Yves Forget (Ed – village blacksmith responsible for beautiful the fire screens) to Calif. What a wonderful craftsman!
Everyone enjoyed their (his/her) bedroom and bathroom. Katie and Maggie loved their pink bedroom – they felt like real princesses. Doug was quite impressed by the installation of the Master Bath showers. He wanted each of us to observe the great craftsmanship.
The guys enjoyed the tour of the wine cellar. Also, they marveled at the kitchen staircase with the curves and materials. Maggie & Katie enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond. The girls & their parents played soccer almost every day. Mary & Bill joined us for lunch on Sat. at L’Auberge du 12e Siecle in Saché. It was outstanding!

We all appreciated your beautiful Le Plessis. Thank you for allowing our friends & family to enjoy your home. Merci, Merci!”
